Liberal education fosters the intellectual virtues appropriate
to self-governing men and women. Prudence, breadth of judgment,
fairmindedness, understanding, wisdom: these qualities perfect
us as humans and merit our strongest efforts to acquire whether
or not they bring "practical" rewards in their train.
Yet the verbal,
mathematical,
and logical skills by which liberally educated men and women
are distinguished do indeed assist them in their daily lives
and greatly enhance the success of the work they take up in
their occupations and careers.
All graduates of Thomas Aquinas College have undertaken the
same academic program - none have "specialized"
in their undergraduate years. The following partial list of
graduate and professional schools into which they have been
accepted should be seen, therefore, as an indication of the
utility liberal education has been to them. Nearly half of
the College's graduates continue their education beyond the
baccalaureate degree. They are now successfully pursuing virtually
every walk of life.
