Karen Walker (’76) launched Walker & Associates Strategic Communications, a marketing and public relations firm in southern California, in 1996. Her past and current clientele include the C.S. Lewis Foundation, Ignatius Press, LaserMonks, Inc., the Catholic Schools Textbook Project, Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, the Catholic Marketing Network, and her alma mater, Thomas Aquinas College. Previously she served as a field representative for a state legislator and as a freelance journalist and editor.

On August 15, 2007, Ms. Walker formally launched the Catholic Business Journal, LLC, a media company focused on serving Catholic business professionals with premiere Catholic and business content. Its mission is to “generate a return on principle,” bringing Christ and His teachings into every aspect of business life and decision-making.

The company produces a live, call-in radio show for Catholics in business — The Catholic Business Hour with host Dick Lyles. The popular show airs twice weekly to more than 130 million, on more than 200 radio stations nationwide, on EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network, Sirus 130, I Heart Radio, and online.

“The priorities pursued in a communications career that includes legislative work, journalism, public relations, and the launching of a premiere Catholic business publication and popular national radio program are anchored firmly in the education I received at Thomas Aquinas College,” she says. “I remain grateful and humbled by the original works of the great books curriculum, the Socratic method of discussion, the natural integration of principles of the Faith woven throughout my studies, and the community of peers and tutors who chose to live their Faith daily.”
