College
Urges Prayer for Nation; Takes Stand for Religious
Liberty
Thomas Aquinas College President
Michael F. McLean and Dean Brian T. Kelly ask that
members of the College community join with students,
faculty, and staff in praying through November 6 for
“the conversion of our country and a very happy outcome
to the elections.” Additionally they have asked that
priests who are alumni or friends of the College keep
this intention in mind when offering Mass. Meanwhile,
the College has joined a consortium of 15 Catholic
colleges and universities in filing an amicus brief in
support of two lawsuits against the HHS
Mandate.

HONOR
ROLL College
Gets Top Marks for Academics, Catholic Identity, and
Value
The American Council of College
Trustees and Alumni has released its third annual report
on the curricular strength of American colleges and
universities, and once again, Thomas Aquinas College is
at the very top of the list. On ACTA’s “What Will They
Learn?” website, the College is among the top 2 percent
to receive an “A” grade, and one of only three schools
in the country to receive a perfect score.
In
other college-guide news, the latest edition of The
Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College
declares that the College “stands alone as the only
Catholic college that exclusively teaches from the Great
Books, with an impressive intellectual rigor that is
matched by a commitment to orthodox
Catholicism.”
Finally, Kiplinger has
ranked Thomas Aquinas College on its list of the Top 10
Best Values in Private Colleges Under $20K (net cost,
including financial aid). It is the only Catholic
institution in the United States to have made the list,
which is based on academic excellence, freshman
retention rate, graduation rate, and cost.

PRO-LIFE
HERO Remembering
Andrew
Moore (’14)
Members of the Thomas Aquinas
College community joined the parents and siblings of
Andrew “Kent” Moore (’14) for a memorial Mass in Our
Lady of Most Holy Trinity Chapel on October 15. A
tireless advocate of unborn children and their mothers,
Kent was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle this
summer while participating in a Crossroads pro-life walk
across America.
“The untimely death of a
promising young man such as Andrew Moore always touches
a deep part of our hearts,” writes Judy Barrett, a dear
friend and longtime benefactor of the College, in a
thoughtful post on the California Catholic Conference
blog. “But there is more to this profoundly inspiring
story …”
