On Saturday, March 21, Thomas Aquinas College hosted the annual Legatus-Aquinas Forum with the 2015 theme of “The Wisdom of Genesis.” Some 27 members of the Ventura-North Los Angeles Chapters of Legatus, the international organization of Catholic business executives, participated in the event, which took place on campus.

The day began in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel, where Head Chaplain Rev. Hildebrand Garceau, O.Praem., offered Mass, joined at the altar by Legatus Chaplain Rev. Dave Heney. Admissions Counselor Brigid McCarthy (’04) served as the cantor, leading attendees in chants and hymns, accompanied by a student, Giorgio Navarini (’17) on the organ.

President Michael F. McLean and Vice President for Development Paul J. O’Reilly led the conversation, which focused on the first three chapters of Genesis and St. Augustine’s Commentary on Creation.

The conversation continued over lunch, which Dr. and Mrs. McLean hosted at the Doheny Hacienda, the official residence of Thomas Aquinas College’s president. There, Dr. McLean presented a short talk, summarizing key points from the readings, before leading members on a tour of the Hacienda.

“I always enjoy the Legatus-Aquinas Forum, which the College offers to our Legatus chapter, because it allows us to explore topics in depth,” says Stan Carmichael, a Legate, a member of the College’s Ventura Board of Regents, and owner and president of Carmichael Associates in Thousand Oaks, California. “I am continually surprised and impressed at how we pick up new and important points in our discussions. Our understanding of Genesis grew many fold at this year’s forum.”
