Thomas Aquinas College Ranked Among Top Colleges in U.S.

(September 19, 2002)

Thomas Aquinas College’s high ranking in the 2003 edition of U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" issue [usnews.com] marks yet another year that the College has been found to be one of the best liberal arts colleges in the U.S. Only four Catholic colleges were ranked among the nation’s top 112 liberal arts colleges: Thomas Aquinas College, College of the Holy Cross, College of St. Benedict, and St. John’s University (MN).

After the Top 50 national liberal arts colleges, Thomas Aquinas College was third in the area of SAT scores among incoming freshmen (1170-1340; the SAT average for 2002-03 freshmen is 1292), third in the percentage of full-time faculty (98% - along with Reed College and Millsaps College), and nineteenth in the category “least debt incurred by graduates.”

Moreover, the College was ranked sixth of all colleges nationwide in the percentage of its classes under 20 students (93%) - one of only three Catholic colleges to appear in the ranking (the others, Mount St. Clare College, Iowa, and Seton Hill College, Pennsylvania).
