With freshmen arriving for Orientation, Thomas Aquinas College is preparing for the start of the new academic year, which will officially begin with Convocation on Monday. As part of the preparation, workers are putting the finishing touches on St. Augustine Hall, which underwent a substantial renovation over the summer thanks to principal funding from the E. L. Wiegand Foundation of Reno, Nevada, and a generous gift from College Governor Dieter Huckestein and his wife, Cecilia.

The improved St. Augustine Hall features an arched corridor with mahogany wainscoting and new doors and chandeliers. It also boasts new carpeting and a new heating and ventilation system, which will reduce energy costs. Inside the classrooms there are now lower ceilings plus windows that open and shut.

The remodeling of St. Augustine Hall was designed by Scott Boydstun of Rasmussen and Associates, who was also the architect of the building when it was originally built. Furniture was provided by J.H. Interiors, and the general contractor for the project was HMH Constructors.

Let the school year begin!
