College Bids Farewell to Longtime Tutor
Thomas Aquinas College mourns the loss of alumnus and longtime tutor Michael J. Paietta (’83), who died on March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation, 16 days after entering the hospital with symptoms suggestive of a heart attack. Friends, family, and many from the College community gathered for his funeral Mass at Los Angeles’ Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on April 4. The College will offer a memorial Mass in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel.

SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS VISITS COLLEGE
Discusses Career and Art with Students, Faculty
On Thursday, March 29, students at Thomas Aquinas College were treated to an hour-long question-and-answer session with a visitor who is widely considered one the world’s greatest living actors, Sir Anthony Hopkins. “I feel very privileged to be in such a place,” he told the students. “I’ve never seen such a beautiful place in my life. It’s most amazing. It’s like Shangri-La!”

Women Graduates Make the Case for Religious Freedom, Natural Law
For the past few months, the alumnae of Thomas Aquinas College — in cities across the nation and from class years that span the decades — have taken leadership roles in opposing the Health and Human Services Mandate that would compel Catholic employers to purchase contraceptive, abortifacient, and sterilization coverage for their employees. Citing religious freedom and the Natural Law, these women have been powerful champions of the truth and defenders of the Church.

College Celebrates Fr. Buckley’s Golden Jubilee
On March 14, 2012, Thomas Aquinas College hosted a San Francisco reception in honor of head chaplain Rev. Cornelius M. Buckley, S.J. The event, which marked Fr. Buckley’s 50th anniversary as a priest as well as the official launch of the Fr. Buckley Scholarship Fund, included the unveiling of a video about this beloved, faithful Jesuit. Shortly after the reception the College released yet another video, this one featuring many of the toasts and speeches delivered that evening. Both videos are available via the College’s website.

at the 2012 Napa Institute Conference
