On September 17, 2011, Thomas Aquinas College hosted its 40th Anniversary Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., the first of several celebrations throughout the year.

The evening began with a Mass of Thanksgiving, at which the Most Rev. José H. Gomez served as the principal celebrant, joined at the altar by numerous concelebrants. A reception followed the Mass, featuring a performance by the student choral group Chrysostomos. Then, at the celebratory dinner, the Rev. Wojciech Giertych, O.P., theologian of the papal household, delivered the keynote address. (Related: Text and audio from Fr. Giertych's lecture on Aquinas’ vision of morality at Thomas Aquinas College on September 16, 2011.)
