Members of the Class of 2024 at Thomas Aquinas College, California, competed their last examination on Wednesday, thus beginning the celebration that culminates in Saturday’s Commencement.

As the seniors finished the final exam — Theology, to which the entirety of the TAC curriculum is ordered — they gathered on the Academic Quadrangle to cheer each other on. Over an hour or so, their number steadily grew and, with it, so did their anticipation. At last, their ranks were complete, and the class rushed to the Pope St. John Paul II Athletic Center pool. Once all had arrived, they gathered around the pool’s edge and plunged into the cool waters.

As they emerged, the seniors cheered and splashed before making their way to their residence halls to freshen up for lunch and the much-anticipated Senior Boast.

The Senior Boast

When the time came, the soon-to-be graduates met up in St. Joseph Commons, with Maria Brittain (’24) acting as their spokesman. Beginning with the Freshmen Class, Maria counted down all that each class has thus far completed and what it still must undertake — the number of class hours, exams, don rags, and the culminating Senior Thesis. At last, when it came time for the seniors, Maria announced that she and her classmates had completed 4,572 class hours, 44 finals, 11 papers, one socially distanced school year, four tug-of-war victories, four Section Games, one hurriquake, one mudslide, and a Senior Thesis!

As the whole student body cheered, she concluded by announcing all that the class still has left to complete — one graduation.

Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
