Madeleine StebbinsPlease pray for the repose of the soul of Madeleine Stebbins, who died on September 17 at the age of 96.

Mrs. Stebbins was the widow of H. Lyman Stebbins, who in 1975 served as the College’s first Commencement Speaker and was the first to receive its highest honor, the Saint Thomas Aquinas Medallion. In addition to helping her husband found Catholics United for the Faith, Mrs. Stebbins was the author of Looking at a Masterpiece, an account of 40 of the world’s greatest artistic treasures, and a children’s version of the same work, Let’s Look at a Masterpiece.

“For those of us who had the privilege of being able to visit her in her final days, her death was the holiest we have every personally witnessed,” one friend reports. “Even in her final hours and minutes she was radiant and beaming. Her last words before closing her eyes were, ‘Let’s go to Heaven.’”

Please pray for the consolation of the entire Stebbins family, especially their son John, a member of the Thomas Aquinas College Class of 1984.
