Hazing — any action that creates an elevated risk of physical or psychological injury in connection to membership in a student organization — is illegal in the United States. (See the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), which amends section 485(f) of the Higher Education Act, also known as the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act.)
Hazing is also prohibited by Thomas Aquinas College, as is stated in the Student Handbook (California, New England), which provides information on how to report violations of this policy.
The College is required by law to publish semiannual reports concerning incidents of hazing, if any violations have been found.
