An extreme summer-like heat graced the California campus last week, carried by the billowing Santa Ana winds; but that didn’t stop students from fostering the autumn spirit with an Oktoberfest!
In the culmination of this year’s fall soccer season, two women’s teams went head-to-head in a riveting championship game on the California campus Thursday night.
Following upperclassmen seminar, spectators rushed down to the athletic field, eager to glimpse the epic showdown between the two teams and their respective captains, Charlie Gerrard and Elena Walz (both ’26). Team Walz had played an impressive season, but Team Gerrard, the underdog, was unfazed, and both teams took the field full of tenacity.
To kick off Saturday’s Career Fair at Thomas Aquinas College, California, students got to hear words of wisdom and some practical advice from a notable guest speaker: Catholic businessman Barry Rowan, author of The Spiritual Art of Business: Connecting the Daily with the Divine.
The California campus’s student theater group, the St. Genesius Players, charmed its audience with a flowery production of Jane Austen’s Emma, adapted for the stage and directed by sophomore Madeleine Brittain (’28), on the evening of Alumni and Parent Day 2025. The California campus opened its gates to its alumni and parents of current students on Saturday for a day full of fun, friendly competition, and camaraderie.

On an autumn Saturday, the campus art club hosted an exhibition on the academic quad. Weeks prior, students and faculty alike submitted visual art of any kind for display at the forefront of St. Bernardine Library.
