The Sacraments: Magnificent Gifts of God
Thomas Aquinas College began its program in liberal education in the fall of 1971. The program was based upon an understanding of Catholic education as seriously intellectual and loyal to the teaching Church. The College has, without deviating from its original purpose, provided the beginnings of Catholic liberal education for those students prepared and eager to function within a curriculum which gives shape to that purpose.
At Thomas Aquinas College we often say that the education we provide is only a beginning. For the most part, our students are reading the important works in our program for the first time and the class discussions, while certainly helping them to better understand the principal arguments and themes in the readings and to acquire the intellectual virtues, only introduce them to the profoundest truths and deepest questions that have engaged mankind for centuries.
Thomas J. Kaiser is a graduate (1975) of Thomas Aquinas College. He earned his C.Phil. from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1980 and completed Ph.D. in Biology in 1986. He has been a tutor at Thomas Aquinas College since 1982.
Thomas Aquinas College’s new classroom building will be named for St. Gladys, the patron saint of Fritz Burns’ beloved wife, Gladys Carson Burns.

In October of 1990, the U.S. Congress enacted a law, now known as the Clery Act, that requires all institutions of higher education that participate in aid programs, such as the federal Direct Student Loan Program or Pell Grant Program, to collect information with respect to campus crime statistics and campus security policies and to disclose this information to all current students and employees.
