You freshmen are about to begin four years of Catholic liberal education. The pursuit of this education rightly requires a certain withdrawal from practical and political affairs for the sake of cultivating the habits conducive to serious thought and quiet contemplation.

Friday night, the members of the Thomas Aquinas College, California, Class of 2023 enjoyed a freshman social on the academic quadrangle.

The night consisted of egg-on-the-spoon relay races and tug-of-war battles. The outnumbered prefects even dared freshmen to a tug-of-war of their own, which the Class of 2023 won “in about two seconds,” according to one observer.

The ice now broken, the freshmen can enjoy a quiet weekend in preparation for Monday’s Convocation and the start of the academic year!
