Dear Faculty and Staff,

I have now gotten to the point where I can put together consecutively an idea or two, and before regressing I want to say thank you to all those who wrote to me and to all who prayed and hoped for my welfare. If I could, I would write each and every one of you, but that would really be testing my powers.

President Michael F. McLean recently addressed the Thomas Aquinas College community, giving students, faculty, and staff an update on the College’s efforts with respect to the HHS contraceptive mandate. His remarks appear below:

On Sunday, November 18, the upperclassmen squared off against the underclassmen in Thomas Aquinas College’s annual Turkey Bowl flag-football game. It was a hard-fought, rain-soaked battle, with the underclassmen ultimately emerging triumphant.

On Saturday evening President Michael F. McLean hosted students, faculty, and staff at an all-college Thanksgiving dinner. The evening included remarks from Dr. McLean about the Year of Faith, an award for Dr. Andrew Seeley in honor of his 20 years on the faculty, music by the student choral group Chrysostomos and, of course, turkey and all the fixings.

Remarks at the 2012 Thanksgiving Dinner

The other night at the on-campus dinner honoring our Board of Governors, our guest, Fr. Luke Mata, spoke eloquently on the Year of Faith. Appropriately enough, in his reflections Fr. Luke emphasized the “new evangelization” and the importance of deepening our relationship with Christ and of bearing witness to Christ in the contemporary world.
