Dr. Krause speaks at the podiumTo help California students prepare for job and internship opportunities, the College’s Career Center hosted an interview-preparation workshop last week with Dr. Tom Krause, longtime hiring consultant, a member of the College’s Board of Governors, and a TAC father and grandfather.

A founding partner at the Krause Bell Group, an international consulting firm specializing in organizational culture and safety management, Dr. Krause has hired a number of the College’s graduates over the years. In his hourlong presentation in St. Cecilia Hall’s Dillon Seminar Room, he spoke specifically about how students can prepare for and succeed when interviewing for a job.

“Preparing for the interview is the most important thing you can do,” Dr. Krause advised. “If you want a good interview, you must prepare well. If you prepare well, you are likely to have a good interview.”

Some 50 students attended the session, with Dr. Krause’s decades of interview experience at their disposal. They asked, and he answered, a wide array of questions, such as how to explain the College’s classical curriculum to employers, how to humbly demonstrate one’s best qualities in an interview, and how to remain steadfast in the Faith in a competitive and demanding job market.

The College’s students are especially valuable in the marketplace, Dr. Krause told the audience, because they learn quickly and efficiently. “You are the most viable of candidates,” he said. “The big thing that TAC students have is their ability to learn, and that’s what the employer is really looking for.”
