Last Friday night Thomas Aquinas College, New England, and its neighbor, The Moody Center, jointly hosted the inaugural concert of this year’s St. Vincent de Paul Lecture and Concert Series. The Moody Auditorium welcomed Louisa Stonehill (violin), Paul Cohen (cello), and Nicholas Burns (piano) from Ashuelot Concerts, based in Keene, New Hampshire. The trio performed Schubert’s Notturno; Beethoven’s Piano Trio in D Major, Op. 70 No. 1 “Ghost;” and Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 1 in B major, Op. 8. “I loved how Nicholas provided a short description of each piece and its history before playing it,” said sophomore Paul Hapsburg. “It helped me appreciate the piece even more.”

After the concert students and members of the teaching faculty headed to the Tracy Student Center for a competitive game of Trivial Pursuit. The students held a hefty lead in the early rounds, but they could not counter the tutors’ late-game comeback. “I was honored to lead the student body,” recounted senior Joseph Caldwell, "but coming up just short hurt a bit.”
