Each year, the returning students at Thomas Aquinas College take turns welcoming the incoming freshmen with a special event. On Saturday, the seniors of TAC-New England got the ball rolling with a “Dancing in the Moonlight”-themed welcome dance.

Fog swirled around the dancers, adding an ambient, almost ethereal atmosphere to the interior of the Bl. Frassati Student Center, which was adorned in string lights and a hand-painted photo backdrop, complete with a glowing full moon. Tanner Sheffield (’23) led some of the freshmen in a quick foxtrot lesson, and his classmate Sara Langseth taught Middle Eastern and Green folk dances, leading lines of students in tricky spirals and waves.

About midway through the event, the juniors and sophomores arrived to join in the fun! The dance lasted almost all the way until curfew, when everyone finally returned to their residence halls, their dancing appetites satisfied. “It was so much fun!” said freshman Juliana Layendecker. “Even though it was super tiring, I loved dancing!”
