On Saturday, the football fans of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, flocked to the athletic field for the annual Turkey Bowl. The upper- and underclassmen teams arrived in jerseys decorated by their respective peers, who crowded the sidelines to support their squads. The game unfolded to the cheers of the audience and play-by-play commentary from Michael Dolcetti (’25) and Daniel Van Wyk (’26), who seasoned their narrative with humorous jabs at the other teams and, from time to time, each other.

The first half of the Turkey Bowl was an intense back-and-forth as both teams vied to score the first touchdown. Their vying would continue, however: The first half closed out with safeties for both teams, leaving the score tied at 2 - 2.

After an entertaining halftime featuring crowd commentary, the players returned to the field to resume their battle for the first score — a battle that the underclassmen won, thanks to some great teamwork between Enzo Giovinazzi (’26) and quarterback Dylan Peterson (’27). Despite their best efforts to wage a counteroffensive, the older students could not pull off a comeback before the clock expired and their younger confreres carried the day, 8-2.

“We’ve seen some big plays by the underclassmen today,” said Mr. Dolcetti to close the game. “The underclassmen may have got us this time, but we’ll be sure to beat them next year!”
