Each spring, the younger classes take turns hosting events to bid farewell to the soon-to-be-departing seniors. This past week, the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, pampered members of the Class of 2022 with late-night snacks, a formal dinner & dance, and a brunch to celebrate their impact as the campus’ first graduating class.

“These past few days I have felt so much gratitude,” said Grace Anderson (’22). “Graduation is nearing, and it was an amazing way to have a chance to make a few more memories before officially saying goodbye to a place that has given me an amazing education and a wonderful experience.”

An hour before midnight on Thursday, the freshman class prepared ice-cream sundaes with gooey brownies and freshly roasted s’mores for the seniors in Tracy Student Center. The room erupted with music and buzzed with laughter as the Class of 2025 shared fond stories about the Class of 2022 from the past year. “The seniors have taught me a lot this past year, especially how to stay studious while having an upbeat spirit to randomly play volleyball or soccer,” said Mary Wassell (’25). “I’m definitely going to miss them.”

Carrying the festivities into Saturday evening, the juniors invited the seniors, along with the faculty, for a dinner in Tracy. Throughout dinner, both juniors and faculty lined the walls, waiting to share a toast to the graduating class. Emotions ran high as all recounted heartfelt stories from the past three years and offered their best wishes for what is to come. “By accepting the challenge to be pioneers and come out to New England, this class will have an easier time taking on bigger challenges later on in life,” shared Tutor Dr. Marco Emerson.

After the dinner, the two classes met up for a dance in Olivia Music Hall, where string lights ran around the building and tiki-torches lined the entrance.

Later the next morning, the sophomores prepared a savory brunch for the seniors, once more in Tracy. Students lined up for freshly baked quiche, sausages, and freshly squeezed orange juice.

“The senior class greatly impacted the sophomore class,” shared Miles Caughron (’24). “And in doing so, they will indirectly impact the later classes that step foot on this campus.”
