Students wave goodbye to a dpearting bus

The 2021 California High School Summer Program students woke up groggily this morning after a late night of dancing and feasting, followed by long conversations back in the residence halls with their soon-to-be-departing friends. The first shuttles bound for LAX left campus at 5:30 a.m. and continued throughout the morning. The day brought numerous hugs and tearful goodbyes as the students realized how close they had become to one another over these two weeks of study, prayer, and comradery.

The prefects, many of whom have worked several programs before, are in agreement that this is one of the most spirited, thoughtful, and kind groups of students they have ever encountered. Thank you, dear parents, for raising such fine young men and women. We look forward to seeing many of them again as members of the Thomas Aquinas College Class of 2026!

We hope you have enjoyed this blog. It would not have been possible without the efforts of these two fellows: writer/reporter Paul Dinan (NE’23) and photographer Danny Salinas (CA’22). Thanks for the excellent work, gentlemen!

And so we bid you farewell with the last slideshow of the Summer Program (below), featuring photos from today’s departures. But be sure to come back next week, as the blog kicks into high gear once more for the 2021 New England Summer Program!
