Thomas Aquinas College Founding President Dr. Ronald McArthur often tells of an exchange he once had with a student many years ago when the student wanted to know who might have the answer to a very difficult philosophical question. “Well, you would go ask your bishop for the answer,” he replied.
“This college simply wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Peter DeLuca,” Thomas Aquinas College’s founding president, Dr. Ronald McArthur, once insisted.
If founding a college is a Herculean task, then how fitting that one of Thomas Aquinas College’s founders would be an outstanding athlete-turned-philosopher.
On February 13, 2010, more than 650 faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends of Thomas Aquinas College gathered in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel as the College inaugurated Dr. Michael F. McLean as its fourth president — an office he would hold for the next 12 years.
