Students and faculty on the California campus today honored “the first First Lady of Thomas Aquinas College,” Marilyn McArthur, who is celebrating her 90th birthday.

The wife of the College’s founding president, Dr. Ronald P. McArthur, Mrs. McArthur came to campus for the midday Mass in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel, followed by a luncheon celebration in St. Joseph Commons. Joining her was President Michael F. McLean and his wife, Lynda; the two surviving principal founders of the College, Peter L. DeLuca and John W. Neumnayr; and their wives, Kay and Bridget.

Please pray for Quincy Masteller, who is undergoing treatment for bladder cancer. The College’s longtime general counsel, Mr. Masteller is the husband of Katie (Blewett ’82) and father of Mary Collette (Bolaños ’11), Michael (’13), and AnnaMaria (’16). The Mastellers have requested prayers for his complete healing through the intercession of Ven. Fulton Sheen and Bl. Solanus Casey.

The planet of Mercury glided across the face of the sun Monday morning, providing a spectacular view for students on Thomas Aquinas College’s California campus. From a balcony in St. Thomas Hall, dozens watched through a telescope, outfitted with a solar filter, that was the gift of a new friend and benefactor of the College, Mr. Paul Dougherty.

On Sunday, November 3, students at Thomas Aquinas College, California, performed in the first of this year’s two informal concerts — “Schubertiades” — in St. Cecilia Hall. In the video above, Thomas Baker (’20) performs Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8.
