On September 8, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Head Chaplain Rev. Paul Raftery, O.P., led a group of students and faculty members in a Rosary procession around the California campus. The group began outside St. Joseph Commons, processed down to the Lourdes Grotto on the lower campus, and concluded in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel.

Three thousand miles and three hours apart, the two campuses of Thomas Aquinas College both celebrated the new academic year on Saturday with an All-College Picnic, with students, faculty, staff, and their families getting together for an evening of food and fun.

On Friday night Thomas Aquinas College, New England, hosted the inaugural concert of this year’s St. Vincent de Paul Lecture and Concert Series. Held in Olivia Music Hall, the concert featured the Madison String Quartet, which has played at Carnegie Hall  and in other premier venues world-over for 20 years. The New Jersey-based ensemble performed Mozart’s Quartet in G Major, K. 156; Vivaldi’s “Winter” from The Four Seasons; and Haydn’s Quartet Op. 20, #4.

Thomas Aquinas College has climbed 8 spots in the annual U.S. News and World Report college rankings, from No. 43 to No. 35 among the country’s national liberal arts colleges. The College is one of only two Catholic institutions in the United States to make the top 50.

Each fall the sophomores, juniors, and seniors take turns hosting welcoming events for the new Freshman Class. This past weekend, it was the California seniors’ turn. The festivities began with a Saturday-night dance — complete with 70s theme and comedic skits — on the St. Gladys Patio:

Complementing its high rankings in the latest editions of various college guides, Thomas Aquinas College has earned a spot among the nation’s top colleges and universities, according to Washington Monthly. The magazine, which rates schools “based on what they are doing for the country,” considered some 1,732 colleges and universities nationwide for its 2019 list.
