Thomas Aquinas College Featured in the 2013 Edition of The Best 377 Colleges

On Monday, August 20, 2012, some 102 students from across the country and abroad matriculated as freshmen at Thomas Aquinas College — the Class of 2016.

The morning began with a Mass of the Holy Spirit in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel, with the Most Rev. Liam Cary, the newly installed Bishop of Baker (Ore.), presiding. Following the Mass, students, faculty, and staff convened in St. Joseph Commons for the Matriculation Ceremony.

In preparation for the upcoming academic year — freshman orientation begins Friday — Thomas Aquinas College has hosted three retreats in the last two days.

UPDATE 8/16/2012: Good news! Dr. McArthur's surgery went better than expected, and the doctors were able to do all they needed to do. He is now in CCU recovering. Please pray now for a speedy and complete recovery.

Dr. Ronald P. McArthur, the founding president of Thomas Aquinas College, will be undergoing open-heart surgery tomorrow (Wednesday), the Feast of the Assumption, at 8:30 a.m. Please pray for him, for his surgeons, and for a happy outcome.

Dear Alumni,

The time has finally come when I am unable to teach anymore at the College. The prospect saddens me in many ways, especially because my years at the College have made it possible for me to meet so many of you and recognize in you that divine life without which we live in vain. These connections are now severed, and I on my side will miss them very dearly.

Andrew “Kent” Moore (’14) is a Thomas Aquinas College student who was struck and killed by a passing vehicle while participating in the Crossroads Pro-Life Walk Across America on July 20, 2012. Please pray for the repose of his soul and the consolation of his family.

Andrew MooreWhile passing through Stilesville, Ind., early this morning as part of a 3,000-mile trek on behalf of the unborn, Thomas Aquinas College student Andrew Kentigern (Kent) Moore (’14) was struck and killed by a passing vehicle. The College urgently requests prayers on his behalf, as well as for the consolation of his family and his fellow walkers.

Each year, starting in the fall and continuing well into the spring, the seniors of Thomas Aquinas College labor to create what will be the culmination of their four years of academic efforts — the senior thesis. Based on a subject of each student’s own choosing, and drawing from the College’s classical curriculum, the thesis represents its author’s effort to apply his or her education to a matter of scholarly and personal importance.
