“What, exactly, can one do with a liberal education?”

It is a question that Thomas Aquinas College students know well, one that is invariably asked whenever they mention that they are devoting four years to studying the greatest works of Western civilization. A simple answer becomes evident when one considers the careers that the College’s students are already planning: They can do whatever they want.

On Saturday, November 17, the upperclassmen squared off against the underclassmen in Thomas Aquinas College’s annual Turkey Bowl flag-football game.

Both sides fought hard, but the upperclassmen simply overpowered their younger opponents, claiming a decisive 19-8 victory. In the 29-year recorded history of this illustrious competition, the upperclassmen have now won 20 times.

On November 16 the Thomas Aquinas College Choir performed a complete, unabridged production of Handel’s Messiah at its fall concert in St. Cecilia Hall. Photos from the concert, which is part of the St. Vincent de Paul Lecture and Concert Series, are available in the slideshow below:

Dozens of Thomas Aquinas College freshmen gathered in St. Cecilia Hall Thursday afternoon to learn about an intriguing possibility: completing their course of studies at the College’s newly approved campus in Northfield, Massachusetts.

“Our hope is to launch Thomas Aquinas College, New England, with not only a freshman class, but a sophomore class, too,” said Director of Admissions Jon Daly. “So we are inviting adventurous members of the Class of 2022 here, in California, to transfer to New England for next fall.”

It was a battle between students and alumni Saturday as seminarians from St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo — including three Thomas Aquinas College alumni — came to the California campus to battle students in a game of ultimate Frisbee.
