On Saturday evening, Catholics from all 39 parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Santa Barbara pastoral region gathered to honor their newly canonized patron, St. Junipero Serra, and their new episcopal vicar, the Most Rev. Robert Barron. Present for the joyous occasion were the College’s dean, Dr. Brian T. Kelly (’88), and his wife, Karen (Stuart ’88); two College chaplains, Rev. Paul Raftery, O.P., and Rev.

One Saturday each semester, Thomas Aquinas College students venture off-campus for a relaxing evening of dining and conversation at the home of one of their tutors. These evenings are a longstanding and cherished campus tradition — the Section Dinner. Inspired by a classic scene from Chariots of Fire — in which Harold Abrahams successfully completes Cambridge University’s Trinity Great Court Run before the King’s Gate Clock strikes 12 — the students of Thomas Aquinas College staged their own quad run this past weekend.

Eleven women and 23 men took turns, during which they sprinted, in pairs, a clockwise course around the academic quadrangle, beginning and ending by St. Bernardine of Siena Library.

A Tutor Talk by Dr. Patrick Gardner
