It was a “baptism by immersion” on Monday evening as the students of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, celebrated the opening of the aquatics center in Meany Gymnasium — and just in time, now that the autumn weather has arrived.

The American Council of College Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) has released its annual report (PDF) on the curricular strength of American institutions of higher learning and, once again, Thomas Aquinas College is at the very top of the list.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Helen Grace Puccetti, who died on August 29, and for the consolation of her family, including daughter Pip (Donahoe ’78) and grandchildren Theresa (’20) and Peter Donahoe (’22). Mrs. Puccetti and her late husband, Victor, were generous benefactors of Thomas Aquinas College and longtime members of its President’s Council.

Thomas Aquinas College has climbed 8 spots in the annual U.S. News and World Report college rankings, from No. 43 to No. 35 among the country’s national liberal arts colleges. The College is one of only two Catholic institutions in the United States to make the top 50.

Complementing its high rankings in the latest editions of various college guides, Thomas Aquinas College has earned a spot among the nation’s top colleges and universities, according to Washington Monthly. The magazine, which rates schools “based on what they are doing for the country,” considered some 1,732 colleges and universities nationwide for its 2019 list.
