The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today denied Thomas Aquinas College’s challenge to the HHS mandate that requires Catholic employers to facilitate the availability of free contraceptives, abortifacients, and sterilization services to their employees.

Although members of the Thomas Aquinas College Board of Governors meet three times a year to conduct the business of the College, their fall gathering takes place in a more informal setting for fellowship, study, and prayer. This year’s fall retreat, held on the last weekend in October, provided the usual opportunity for Governors to visit with one another, with students, and with members of the faculty.

On Wednesday afternoon Thomas Monaghan, the onetime owner of Domino’s Pizza and the founder of Ave Maria University, visited Thomas Aquinas College to make an extraordinary offer to members of the Senior Class: free tuition at the Ave Maria School of Law for all three years of their legal education.

Thomas Aquinas College is one of only 20 colleges and universities nationwide recommended by The Cardinal Newman Society in its latest edition of The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, which was published on October 7.

On October 1, the Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the women of St. Thérèse Residence Hall raised their voices in honor of their patroness, singing the parts of the liturgy and several hymns at that night’s Mass in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel. “We pray to Thérèse in a special way tonight,” said Chaplain Rev. Cornelius M. Buckley, S.J., in his homily, “to show up the way, the little way to the Lord, to respond to Him, each of us individually, as He calls us in the Gospel.”
