Please pray for the repose of the soul Frances O’Connor Hardart, a longtime member of the Thomas Aquinas College Board of Governors, who died on February 19.

“Frannie Hardart served on our board for 14 years,” says President Michael F. McLean. “She loved the College’s educational program as well as its commitment to the Catholic faith, and she believed that our graduates offered great hope for the future of the Church and the country. She remained a close friend of the College and a generous benefactor even after her retirement.”

On Saturday evening the men of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, put their cooking and table-service skills to work on behalf of the campus’ women.

About a week earlier, the women received in their mailboxes surprise invitations to an event dubbed “The Rose Dinner.” The men were rather tight-lipped about the details, but on Saturday afternoon they took over the dining commons and the kitchen to prepare an exquisite feast.

For the latest installment of the Women’s Dorm Talks on the California campus, Dr. Jennifer Rosato presented a discussion titled “Raissa Maritain’s Adventures in Grace,” about the life of the French poet, philosopher, and wife of famed Thomist Jacques Maritain.

At a special Mass and celebratory dinner in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, members of the Thomas Aquinas College community gave thanks for and to a stalwart champion of the Catholic Church and her works, Richard A. Grant.

In the second chapter of the Topics, his treatise on dialectical reasoning, Aristotle tells us that dialectic is useful for three things: intellectual exercise, conversation, and the philosophical sciences. He then divides the third use into two. He writes:

For three days this summer, Thomas Aquinas College will host scholars from across the country who seek the truth in the footsteps of the Angelic Doctor. At the first-ever Thomistic Summer Conference, held from June 18-20, attendees will explore the theme of “Faith and Reason,” in light of the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, at a series of lectures and conversations held on the College’s California campus.
