Thomas Aquinas College has climbed 8 spots in the annual U.S. News and World Report college rankings, from No. 43 to No. 35 among the country’s national liberal arts colleges. The College is one of only two Catholic institutions in the United States to make the top 50.

Each fall the sophomores, juniors, and seniors take turns hosting welcoming events for the new Freshman Class. This past weekend, it was the California seniors’ turn. The festivities began with a Saturday-night dance — complete with 70s theme and comedic skits — on the St. Gladys Patio:

Complementing its high rankings in the latest editions of various college guides, Thomas Aquinas College has earned a spot among the nation’s top colleges and universities, according to Washington Monthly. The magazine, which rates schools “based on what they are doing for the country,” considered some 1,732 colleges and universities nationwide for its 2019 list.

Throughout the day Friday, Michael Ferreira, a mosaic artist from Cape Cod, and his fiancée, Jess Bevis, worked to install in the façade of the College’s New England chapel an image of its newly declared patroness, Our Mother of Perpetual Help. After a day’s work, the building now prominently bears the likeness of Our Lady for which it is named.

Last week Thomas Aquinas College President Michael F. McLean appeared on Archangel Radio, an EWTN affiliate in Mobile, Alabama. In a wide-ranging interview, he and co-hosts Michelle McAloon and Todd Sylvester discussed topics ranging from the history of the College to its students, its academic program, its spiritual life, and its new campus in New England.
