To honor the year of St. Joseph, the Dominican Friars of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus are producing a video novena to the Patron of the Universal Church. The first installment, St. Joseph, Husband of the Mother of God & Diligent Protector of Christ (above), came out Wednesday, but if you begin the Novena today, you will finish it on March 19 — the Feast of St. Joseph.

At about the 5:18 mark of the video, an alumnus priest — Rev. John Marie Bingham, O.P. (’00), the Western Dominican Province’s director of vocations — leads the prayer:

O glorious St Joseph, father of Jesus Christ and husband of Mary,
We raise our minds and hearts to you, imploring your powerful intercession
Obtain from the Lord all the graces we need for our spiritual and temporal welfare.
Particularly those intentions that we bring now before St. Joseph …

Other alumni Dominicans will serve as the novena's featured preachers on the days ahead. On March 12 Rev. Mr. John Winkowitsch, O.P. (’04), will discuss St. Joseph’s title of “Most Valiant,” and on March 15, Rev. Michael Hurley, O.P. (’99) will consider “Pillar of Families.”

St. Joseph, pray for us!
