Cellist Larissa Fedoryka Delights, Educates Students at Opening Concert
On Friday night Thomas Aquinas College, California, hosted its inaugural concert of this year’s St. Vincent DePaul Lecture & Concert Series. Students sat under the stars on the Chapel plaza as cellist Larissa Fedoryka performed music by Bach, Saint-Saëns, Shostakovich, Dvořák, Bruch, Massenet, and Elgar, accompanied by pianist Timothy Accurso. Between pieces Miss Fedoryka thoughtfully introduced the next work, discussing its historical context and musical structure. To conclude the evening, she thanked God by glorifying His mother through a beautiful performance of Gounod’s Ave Maria. Students responded with a standing ovation.
