The New England Class of 2026 faced off against the faculty Wednesday for the highly anticipated seniors-versus-tutors softball game, followed by a barbeque, the Senior Thesis draft-burning party, and a late-night snack with the freshmen.

The seniors celebrate their first win against the faculty

After classes on a beautiful spring afternoon, the seniors gathered on the diamond, determined to be the first class in TAC-New England history to beat the faculty in the annual match. The seniors batted first, but it was the tutors who took the lead almost immediately, scoring nine points to the seniors’ one in the first inning. Undeterred, the seniors played hard, earning point after point to catch up. In the end, following two home runs from Enzo Giovinazzi and Thomas Dula, the Class of 2026 secured the first-ever Senior Class softball win with a final score of 15-11.

After the game, Dean Steven Cain and his wife, Mary, generously hosted a barbeque dinner for the tutors, their families, and the seniors. Following dinner, the Class of 2026 gathered around a fire, Senior Thesis drafts in hand. The soon-to-be graduates ceremoniously burned the various drafts of their work, offering a toast, a few words of thanks, or a funny epitaph before submitting their pages to the flames.

Later on, members of the Class of 2029 hosted the seniors in St. Frassati Student Center, treating them to snacks, conversation, games, and music. Outside, a large bonfire offered a quieter place for students to sing and talk late into the night.
