In the latest installment of the St. Vincent de Paul Lecture & Concert Series, Thomas Aquinas College, New England, was graced with a concert by Peter Blanchette, acclaimed inventor and performer of the 11-string archguitar.

Mr. Blanchette performed a wide variety of pieces, including Renaissance lute music, traditional Irish songs, and his own arrangements of Bach compositions, all specially adapted for his unique instrument. Between each piece, he kept the audience engaged by giving historical context for the arrangement, mixed with related personal anecdotes and fun facts. Students were enraptured by the melodic, peaceful pieces and gave Mr. Blanchette a rousing standing ovation when he concluded. Afterward, the musician held a short Q&A, in which he answered questions about the archguitar, his love for Bach, and his musical background.
