Romance was in the air on Saturday night as the gentlemen of Merrill-Keep Hall hosted the ladies of Gould to an autumn “Date Night” at Thomas Aquinas College, New England.

The event began when the men escorted their randomly assigned dates to Tracy Student Center, where they were met with warm, incandescent lights and enchanting roses. Between dances and snacks, the couples discussed a wide range of conversation topics, from their favorite board game to their most embarrassing moments, filling the building with laughter.

“The dorm date allowed students to get to know each other in a personal way. These one-on-one conversations cultivate more meaningful friendships,” reflected freshman Stephen Brown. “Not only does a date night mingle the classes and promote unlikely friendships, but the community is strengthened,” observed senior Cecilia Huckins, adding, “and there’s a chance for love.”

As conversations metamorphosed into dancing, the couples pirouetted for the rest of the evening. “There may not be a second date,” joked freshman Michael Simia. “But, I’m glad to have spent my Friday evening with someone whom I grew closer with.”
