Under the leadership of College and Career Counselor Dan Selmeczy, a semiannual Career Day has become a regular campus event at Thomas Aquinas College, California. On March 9, about 50 students met and networked with representatives from more than 20 companies in the auditorium of St. Cecilia Hall, giving the students a sense of their possible futures — and representatives a sense of how versatile a Catholic liberal education can be.

The companies represented range across the professional spectrum, from classical high schools and poetry initiatives to specialized tech companies and trades. There were also few familiar faces among the crowd of newcomers, such as Brigit McNeil (’23), who represented The Alvarez Firm. While networking was the primary goal, some students sat for on-the-spot interviews.

By the end of the day, it was clear that this semester’s Career Day had been a success. “I think it went really well,” said Charlinda Gerrard (’26), who helped Mr. Selmeczy organize the event. “All the employers seemed to have been very pleased with all the students they talked to. I was happy with how it went, and I believe the employers and students were too.”
