With graduation rapidly approaching, the Thomas Aquinas College, California, Class of 2026 threw its final dance this past Saturday: the annual Chez Martin, which the hosting class themed “Country Fair.”

A gloomy forecast and gray skies threatened rain, but that didn’t stop the seniors. In the circular driveway behind St. Bernard Hall, volunteers propped up colorful vendor booths and strung fairy lights around the tree in the center. Before the festivities began, students gathered in the Fritz B. Burns Auditorium for some entertainment: a re-run of the Senior Class’s first-ever film, dating all the way back to the spring of 2023: “The Quill of Aquinas.” Prior to its showing, the crowd entertained itself with acoustic sing-alongs and improvised skits.

After a short film’s worth of suspense and laughter, students trekked to the outdoor dance floor through a light drizzle. Sheltered by the overhang of a great twisted tree, partygoers filled the driveway as country and bluegrass tunes sounded over the speakers. Several took to dancing while others visited the concession stands and activity booths, which offered activities such as face-painting, balloon animals, and ring toss. Apple-pie baking and “Guess the Pig’s Weight” contests rounded off the evening’s events, and the festivities continued well into the night.

“This dance turned out so good,” said Marianna Favarato (CA’26). “Even the rain couldn’t stay away!”
