With the Class of 2023 nearing Commencement, members of the Class of 2025 recently took the opportunity on both coasts to thank the seniors for their example and friendship at the annual Sophomore-Senior Brunch.

In California, on the plaza behind St. Gladys Hall, the two classes enjoyed omelets and fresh fruit in the spring sunshine, surrounded by roses and lilacs, conversation unfolding over music and the quiet chuckling of the plaza fountain. In New England, meanwhile, the sophomores decorated the Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati Student Center in a spirit of tasteful minimalism; the friends eating their French toast in a room lit by candles, string lights, and a bright fire in the Student Center hearth.

To commemorate each other, students at both events toasted their friends in the opposite class, recalling life-changing conversations, relaxing moments at the beach or mountains, and other precious memories. “When we first arrived in our freshman year, you helped us settle and find a routine,” said Gerard Behe (NE’25). “Your class has been so influential in helping us grow in our faith and love for the curriculum, and we hope we can be as influential to future freshmen!” Afterward, Anna Graven (CA’25) remarked, “It was amazing to hear how inspiring each class was to the other. I felt closer to all the seniors!”

The Sophomore-Senior brunch is the first of several commemorative events with which the College community sends off the graduating class. In their turn the juniors, freshmen, and faculty will have the chance to thank the Class of 2023 for its contributions and wish its members well on future endeavors.
