Each year, starting in the fall and continuing well into the spring, the Seniors of Thomas Aquinas College labor to create what will be the culmination of their four years of academic effort — the Senior Thesis. Based on a subject of each student’s own choosing, and drawing from the College’s classical curriculum, the thesis represents its author’s effort to apply his or her education to a matter of scholarly and personal importance.

A “Tutor Talk” by Rev. Cornelius M. Buckley, S.J.

Note: Periodically members of the Thomas Aquinas College teaching faculty or chaplaincy present informal lectures, followed by question-and-answer sessions, on campus. These late-afternoon gatherings afford an opportunity for speakers to discuss topics of great interest to them and to share their thoughts with other members of the community. Rev. Cornelius M. On Sunday, March 9, Thomas Aquinas College students performed in the second of this year’s two informal concerts — “Schubertiades” — in St. Bernardine of Siena Library.

Early Saturday morning, a group of Thomas Aquinas College students and a recent graduate sung the National Anthem for some 300 boys and their families at the opening ceremony for the Santa Paula Little League.

On Tuesday afternoon the lower campus green was the site of the Class Volleyball Tournament’s championship game, with the Juniors facing off against the Sophomores. After an opening prayer, the contest began — a tough competition in which the Juniors ultimately triumphed, claiming the 2015 tournament title.

In the consolation match, the Freshmen bested the Seniors, taking third place in the tournament.

On Tuesday, in between Don Rags sections, Thomas Aquinas College students made their way over to St. Augustine Hall for the campus blood drive. United Blood Service set up a makeshift clinic in one of the classrooms, and students dropped by throughout the day to make their sanguinary contributions.

The latest speaker in the Office of Career Advisement’s series of career talks was Catholic television host and producer Daniel Rabourdin, who on Tuesday offered practical advice and encouragement to students who are interested in pursuing careers in film and television. “Start now as a hobby. “Make little movies, right now. Write little scripts, right now,” Mr. Rabourdin urged. “Volunteer to work for free. Fortunately, we are close to where it all happens in Hollywood. Develop those skills, the writing and editing.”
