St. Bernardine of Siena Library at Thomas Aquinas College, California, swelled with song on the last Sunday in April as student-led choral group Chrysostomos performed its spring concert. The library, with its high ceilings and grand windows, created the perfect atmosphere for the choir’s stunning showcase.

Directed by senior Sasha Lessard (CA’26), Chrysostomos shared a collection of hymns, polyphony, and spirituals with the audience, who sat captivated by the choir’s virtuosity. Brigid Wassell (CA’27), assistant director and Sasha’s successor, also made her public debut directing the group’s performance of “Northern Lights” by Ola Gjeilo.

“It was so great to have this chance to showcase our choir,” said Sasha. “They’ve made so much progress and have put so much hard work into preparing for this concert.” With graduation just weeks away, the College will soon bid farewell not only to Sasha, but also to her fellow senior Chrysostomos members Gemma Rose Steenson, Michael Rivera, and Juliana Baer. Though their presence and talent will be greatly missed, they are leaving behind a strong musical legacy.
