Welcoming new faces to campus

In the face of a damp and drizzly morning, Thomas Aquinas College, New England, was charged with energy and anticipation for the first day of the one-week Great Books High School Summer Program. Summer Program prefects hurried about, finalizing plans and activities prior to welcoming the College’s visitors.

As the morning progressed, the sun peeked through the clouds to herald the arrival of 38 high schoolers as they drove into Northfield. The students checked in at St. Frassati Student Center, where they received their books for the upcoming week and had the opportunity to chat with their peers and prefects. Introductions over, parents and prefects helped the students move their baggage to the women’s and men’s dorms — Gould Hall and St. Augustine Hall, respectively. Here, the campers took some time to settle into their rooms and unpack before the busy afternoon of orientations and first impressions ahead.

The one-week Summer Program will be an invigorating experience, filled with questions, conversations and camaraderie. The 38 students on the New England campus are filled with vim and vigor, and the days to follow will be an experience worth hearing about.

Don’t forget to check the Summer Blog tomorrow morning to read about this afternoon’s events! We will post twice per day throughout the Summer Program, so make sure to come back every day to keep up with the summer programmers’ intellectual and physical adventures!
