Less than two hours after Rev. Michael Masteller became Thomas Aquinas College’s 76th alumnus priest, Rev. John Winkowitsch, O.P. (’04), became its 77th.

The Most Rev. Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San Francisco, ordained Fr. John on Saturday morning at St. Dominic Church. The new priest is one of 11 alumni members of the Dominican Friars of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, and the fifth ordained to the priesthood.

“I first met John when he came as a freshman and was assigned to my philosophy section. At the time he was searching for the truth, and it didn’t take him long to find it!” recalls tutor Dr. Brian Kelly (’88), who along with colleague John Baer, was part of a large TAC contingent at the Ordination Mass. “He was baptized and confirmed that Easter, and I was blessed to be his godfather. What a long and beautiful journey it has been since that Easter over 20 years ago. It was very moving to witness his joy on the day of his ordination. He will be a great blessing for the Dominicans and for the Church.”
