Students from Thomas Aquinas College, California, boarded five chartered buses last Friday to travel 370 miles for this year’s Walk for Life in San Francisco!

After a nearly eight-hour-long trip, the travelers arrived at their destination close to midnight: St. Peter and Paul Church in the heart of the city, which generously offered its gymnasium as a place of refuge. Many students chose to settle into their sleeping bags for the night; some visited the chapel to adore Our Lord in the Eucharist; and others set out with friends to explore the City by the Bay.

Saturday morning kicked off early with breakfast at local coffee shops before students loaded back onto the buses for a short drive to City Hall. There, they mingled with thousands of other pro-life advocates from organizations, parishes, and families who showed up to rally for the unborn. When the Walk officially commenced, Thomas Aquinas College students led the way. The women of the College boldly bore the banner in the front of the protest, while some of the College’s men served as security. The crowd paraded from City Hall to the Ferry Building, roughly 2.1 miles, singing hymns of praise, chanting the Rosary, and declaring, “We are the pro-life generation!” the whole way.

The Walk concluded with cheers and a balloon arch, and after a group photo, Thomas Aquinas College students scattered into the San Francisco streets with their friends. That evening, many attended a special Mass celebrated by Head Chaplain Rev. Robert Marczewski at the Shrine of St. Francis, which he offered for an end to abortion and all crimes against life.

Buses returned to St. Peter and Paul Church late the next morning. After Mass, sunrise-watching, breakfast, and exploration, students bade farewell to the beautiful city, loaded their luggage, and settled in for the road trip back to campus. That night, they arrived home safely, tired but invigorated with a love and gratitude for life.
