Students at the Summer Program

Minds blown by Euclid’s definitions and Boethius’s Consolation, students on the New England Summer Program were ready for some downtime when Monday’s classes came to an end. They got it and more at the following recreation period:

There was something for everyone! Those looking to burn off some energy sprinted the lengths of the athletic field in a fierce game of ultimate frisbee. Those looking to cool down found their oasis in the Pope St. John Paul II Athletic center pool. The more artistically minded among the group had fun tie-dying sundry goods from t-shirts, to backpacks, to scrunchies. And those who could not bear to take a break from Euclid and Boethius found shady spots to get a head start on the readings for Tuesday’s classes.

Next came dinner, followed by an abbreviated study hall in Dolben Library. About halfway through the session — around the time they wrapped up the next installment of Boethius — students headed off for various classrooms around campus, where prefects taught them how to demonstrate Euclidean propositions in preparation for Tuesday morning’s class!

Nex, the students came together to pray the nightly Rosary in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel …

Back in the residence halls after curfew, students offered the usual prayers and said their nightly consecration. Then it was time to catch some sleep before Tuesday morning’s class, where any one of them may be called to the blackboard to demonstrate one of Euclid’s propositions. We’ll let you know how that goes in this afternoon’s post, here on the Summer Program blog!
