Students on the 2025 New England High School Summer Program

Friday afternoon found the High School Summer Program slipping and sliding into summer fun. After a full morning of challenging classes and conversations, the students raced down to the athletic field for open rec, ready to trade in their pens for pool noodles. The field was arranged in an extravaganza of water fun: a slip ‘n’ slide, volleys of water balloons, and the pool open for swimming and diving. In between slides, students held impromptu soccer scrimmages. Campus echoed with the sweet chaos of a summer afternoon.

The programmers later dried off for dinner before heading to Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel for Stations of the Cross — a time to reflect and enter into quiet prayer after the joyful noise of the afternoon.

The evening continued with a tropical twist in Bl. Frassati Student Center, where students sipped blended pina colada mocktails and competed in an epic game of spoons. In a hilarious twist on the classic game, prefects hid spoons all over the building — including on the second-floor balcony — sending players scrambling through hallways and stairwells mid-round in pursuit of victory.

Just when it seemed the fun had peaked, the lights dimmed, and the stage of Olivia Music Hall lit up for Open Mic Night. Students stepped up with courage and creativity, sharing original poetry, songs, clever skits, juggling, and music on piano and guitar.

Laughter erupted during a series of surprise skits performed by prefects, a perfect ending to a perfect summer day. Students then made their way to bed early, resting up for their trip to Boston on Saturday. There will be just one post to share all the events of the day, so be sure to read all about it Sunday on the Summer Program Blog!
