The first full day of the Great Books High School Summer Program at Thomas Aquinas College, New England, began early for a few ambitious students who joined prefects at the gym, starting the morning with conversation and a workout.

Despite Saturday’s long day at the beach and in Santa Barbara, a group of adventurous students woke up bright and early Sunday for a sunrise hike to the Punch Bowls in Los Padres National Forest.

To close out arrival day on the New England High School Summer Program, students enjoyed a BBQ dinner, followed by the Orientation meeting.

Although the weather was cool and thick with clouds for Saturday morning’s hike and Mass, the conditions transformed into a perfect sunny day for the students’ trip to the beach and Santa Barbara!
