New England
Taking advantage of the three-day weekend, some 30 students from Thomas Aquinas College, New England, made a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, on Monday. It was a day of reflection and prayer, beginning with the drive some 75 miles southwest. “We didn’t take a bus,” explains junior Casey Kirk, “which helped us grow closer during the road trip to the shrine.”
Ever since the College first opened its Northfield, Massachusetts, campus in 2019, New England students have celebrated the arrival of fall with a Friday-afternoon cider-and-donuts party — with scarves as a mandatory part of the dress code.
Last week they continued the young tradition by donning scarves and gathering for community and camaraderie on Inman Field, directly behind the Tracy Student Center. “It was really cool seeing other students wearing the same thing that I was,” said sophomore Elizabeth Langley. “It made us feel like a tight-knit community.”
For more than 20 years, Thomas Aquinas College has invited members of its President’s Council to three days of scholarship, friendship, and fellowship at the annual Summer Seminars on its California campus. This past weekend, the College brought the tradition to New England with the first Fall Seminar held on the Northfield, Massachusetts, campus.
On Saturday night the sophomores of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, took their turn welcoming members of the Freshman Class, hosting a Boston Tea Party-themed dance. The Sophomores decorated Tracy Student Center with patriotic colors and provided plenty of tea for refreshments.
Following on last week’s Senior-Freshman dance, the juniors of Thomas Aquinas College, New England, took their turn welcoming the Class of 2025 on Saturday with a kayaking trip on the Connecticut River. “By hosting the River Day, the we had a chance to connect with the new class,” said Paul Dinan (’23).
Last Friday night Thomas Aquinas College, New England, and its neighbor, The Moody Center, jointly hosted the inaugural concert of this year’s St. Vincent de Paul Lecture and Concert Series.
