Students at the Summer Program

After the Summer Programmers arrived safely on Sunday and found their way to the residence halls, they were excited to get started!

To begin, the students took a tour of the campus, taking a peek at the classrooms, where they will discuss the Great Books, as so many have before them; the dining hall, where they will foster friendships as they eat in community; the athletic center, where they will have the opportunity to exercise during their daily free time; and Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel, where the sacraments will be readily available throughout the program.

Meanwhile, Program Chaplain Rev. Miguel Batres, O.Praem. (’08), offered a traveler’s Mass, while others began lining up for a joyful barbeque dinner on the campus lawns. Over the course of the meal, several students took to the sand volleyball courts, while others played cornhole or chatted with friends old and new

About an hour later, everyone headed to orientation in St. Cecilia Hall, where the prefects and Fr. Miguel formally introduced themselves to the visiting high schoolers. The team was very happy to see so many bright young faces and excited for what the Lord had in store for each of them!

Finally, after a long day, the students were ready to return to the residence halls. The prefects spoke to the young women and men, respectively, about campus life and culture. As they ate their ice cream, the programmers listened attentively with open hearts and smiling faces. Exhausted, they went to bed, hopeful for what the following day would bring.
