Note: At its 2016 Commencement exercises, Thomas Aquinas College honored Viltis Jatulis, who, after 45 years of faithful service, is stepping down as the head librarian of St. Bernardine of Siena Library. On May 14, Thomas Aquinas College celebrated its 42nd Commencement Exercises, honoring the 79 members of the Class of 2016. The day began with the Baccalaureate Mass of the Holy Spirit in Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel. The Most Rev. Salvatore J. Note: Each year the graduating class elects one of its members to present the Senior Address at Commencement. Upon graduation, this year’s speaker, April Shonnard of Carson City, Nevada, plans to pursue studies in speech therapy.

In anticipation of a verdict in the Supreme Court case of Zubik v. Burwell, members of the Thomas Aquinas College community today launched a nine-day novena, praying for a favorable outcome in the College’s challenge of the HHS Contraceptive Mandate.

Construction is now under way on the College’s new lecture and concert building, St. Cecilia Hall!

“We are currently doing the grading of the site, which will continue for several more weeks,” reports Vice President for Finance and Administration Peter L. DeLuca. “After that we will be building the retaining walls, and then we will start the construction of the building itself.”

A recent story in National Review Online highlights the contributions of a new organization that is championing the cause of liberal education, the Alliance for Liberal Learning, whose director, Dr. Thomas R. Krause, is a member of the Thomas Aquinas College Board of Governors.
